Premier League Review – Gameweek 27

Premier League Gameweek 27

It has to be over for liverpool

As the former champions face more losses it seems like their title hopes have been shredded.

Manchester City vs Manchester United

One of the most popular derbies in the world and this match did not let down its viewers, with a fascinating 2-0 win going Manchester United’s way. United got going straight from the off, with a penalty conceded by Gabriel Jesus within the first minute. United’s main man, Bruno Fernandes, converting the penalty and adding yet another goal to his tally. In my opinion, despite winning this game and being the better team, Manchester United needs to count on City to lose their games also to maybe even have a chance to win the title.

Leicester City vs Brighton

All seemed to go right for Manchester United after an early breakthrough from Brighton, but sadly it took a turn for the worse for the southern side, after two goals scored by Iheneacho and Amartey. These two goals allowed the foxes to get themselves the three points. Leicester does have a chance to launch themselves into the second place position with Manchester United and their inconsistency.

Chelsea vs Everton

Chelsea is still three points behind Leicester, despite beating Everton 2-0. There was one large positive with the three points though. They were able to clear Everton away allowing them to drop points and be able to only go down one position rather than two. A major takeaway from this game would have to be that Chelsea is still not out of the second-place race and maybe even the title.

West Ham United vs Leeds United

Wow, West Ham fans must be going mad after this season, I remember two or three seasons ago they would struggle when not playing with their former star player Arnautovic. But now, it is a whole different team, the new West Ham seems to have a new vibe to it and it was obvious with this 2-0 win over Leeds United. It has been clear that this season is one of their best in the last few years. However, for Leeds it was not all doom and gloom,’ they were pretty unlucky after two goals were disallowed for them and that they had the better chances to score.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace

Harry Kane is a force to be reckoned with, and he let everyone know about that after scoring two goals and also assisting two. Ending 4-1 to Tottenham it was clear that this game was very entertaining and that was evident. The lethal marksman’s second goal was a notable one as now Kane and Son have combined more goals as a duo than any other players in Premier League history. This game lets the people know that they are not out of the top 4 chase.

Liverpool vs Fulham

Last time, we talked about a possible revival, but now all hope seems to be lost after another loss to the newly-promoted side, Fulham. Liverpool is now on a 6 game losing streak which seems to now drag them out of the title race. The London side however now, has their eyes set after this win to pull themselves out of the relegation zone, this is a very clear goal for the side as they now are level on point with Brighton who is in 16th and only one point below Newcastle that is in 15th. Could Liverpool be able to get themselves back into the top 4 by the end of the season? That is something I cannot guarantee you.

Aston Villa vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

It is obvious that Aston Villa needs Jack Grealish back to get their European Football hopes back as well, after a lousy draw ending 0-0 with both teams dropping points that they so desperately need and want. It is also clear that Wolves are struggling in front without Raul Jimenez after not being able to convert any of their 10 shots on goal. With Villa only being 6 points away from Europa League qualification, they must depend on whether Grealish is fit enough to play in their last ten games.

Arsenal vs Burnley

It was going well for Arsenal after an early goal scored by Aubameyang, but it changed ways after a horrific mistake by Granit Xhaka after giving the ball away right in front of the goal which led to a goal scored by forward, Christian Wood. With this draw, Burnley now has drawn closer to the relegation zone, which they will have to save themselves from.

Sheffield United vs Southampton

Sheffield is in great danger of being relegated after another loss. They are now 12 points away from safety. On the other hand, Southampton seems to have regained their hopes now after a 2-0 win over the Sheffield side. They now are back on track after a poor streak. I think that Sheffield needs to get ready for when they get relegated as they have been bottom of the table pretty much from the start of the season.

West Bromwich Albion vs Newcastle United

Both teams have major objectives to work towards by the end of the season and both are just as large as the others. But sadly, this game led to both teams dropping points ending 0-0. West Brom however, finished the game probably as the better side and were pretty unlucky to not come away with the three points.
